Do You Have the Courage to Actively Care?

Self-Determinism for an Error-Free Culture

E. Scott Geller, Ph.D.

Senior Partner, Safety Performance Solutions

The success of behavior-based and people-based safety is contingent on increasing safe behavior and decreasing at-risk behavior. Evidence-based methods and tools are available to make this happen, but many lack the courage, compassion, and self-determination to apply them in optimal ways. Our greatest challenge is to facilitate self-motivation among employees. Researchers refer to this challenge as “motivating self-determination”. This spirited, evidence-based presentation will explicate ways to cultivate the courage, compassion, and self-determination needed to achieve and sustain zero injuries.

The theme of this presentation is the same as Dr. Geller’s recently published storybooks, coauthored with Bob Veazie. One is entitled The Courage Factor: Leading People-Based Culture Change, and the sequel is entitled When No One’s Watching: Living & Leading Self-Motivation.
